NEON offers open access data collected using a variety of methods including automated instruments, observational sampling and airborne remote sensing. There are several ways to access available data.

The NEON Data Portal  provides access to:

  • A comprehensive NEON Data Catalog
  • Downloadable instrument and observational data from field sites
  • A NEON Data API that allows users to access data programatically

Airborne Data Requests

Due to the file size of NEON's airborne data, it's currently available by request. To explore what's available visit the Airborne Data page.

Archival Samples

NEON is in the process of creating an online ID look-up system for archival samples. In the meantime, learn more about the samples NEON intends to collect and archive for researchers to use. In addition, some samples are already available by request.
